For the first ti, me this year I’ve decided to set some clear and specific goals, which I would like to achieve by the end of December 2016.
I still have a lot to learn about successful goal-setting, but I’m getting closer to it one step at a time. I do know, however, how vital accountability can be when it comes to achieving the goals we have set. That’s why I decided to share with you my goals for 2016. I believe that this will motivate me even more on my way to achieving them and will probably also drive some of you to transform your New Years wishes into achievable goals.
I want 2016 to mark a new beginning in our family life. I want us to lead a healthier and more intentional lifestyle. And, honestly speaking, this pretty much depends on me. As a stay-at-home mom, I can manage our family life in the direction I would like it to take. For that, however, I would need to work on some habits and skills that have remained neglected for quite some time. Also, in 2016, I would like to focus on myself as well: both in a personal and public profile. I want to learn more, experiment more, be more motivated and energetic in the things I undertake.
Based on all those wishes, here are my goals for 2016: Honestly, I’ve never read the whole Bible. I’ve tried a couple of times, but this time I’ll do it. I find this website very helpful. It offers plenty of Bible Study plans and helps me to stay on track more quickly.
I have started the Classic Bible Study, which lasts 365 days. I read three passages each day, beginning with Genesis, Psalms, and Luke. I have two:) This one and one more which is in Bulgarian (my native language). My goal is to post 3-4 times per week in both of them. With a one-year-old to take care of all the time, this will be a tough job, but it’s one of my biggest priorities for 2016.
We all want that, don’t we? With so many things going on, it’s comfortable to feel like we’re not giving out best where it is most needed (at least I think that way). That’s why my goal is to spend one hour of quality time with my son every single day. No cell phones. No laptops. No distractions.
It will be a time for learning and exploring new things together. Yup, a lot of improvements will be made in 2016 (or so I hope). My goal is to initiate one date night per week and to have a greeting meal at least three times per week. In case of you’re wondering what a greeting meal is, it’s a small dinner (or a snack) to greet my husband with when he comes home from work.
Now this will be something entirely new for me! As I’ve mentioned earlier, I want our family to focus on a more healthy lifestyle, and this includes food. I want to add to our family menu at least one healthy recipe each week and to create at least three different weekly menu plans.
I currently exercise 3 times per week whenever I have time during the day. However, I want to start using every single day before my son wakes up in the morning. This wouldn’t be easy, since I’m not a morning person at all, but I want to give it at least a try. I love reading, and I wanted to make more room for it in 2016. My goal is to read at least two books per month. We currently live in a country where many people speak Russian.
To be able to communicate more with them, I will have to put some effort into learning. I can’t say that I’m delighted to do that, but¦ ones got to do what ones got to do. It doesn’t have to be big, but I’ve discovered that 5-10 minutes per day spent on doing my hair or nails, or whatever I feel like doing, can play a huge role in my overall state of well-being. I feel more confident and more motivated to bring meaning to my day.
In my previous post, 5 Easy Small Steps for a Successful New, Year, I’ve mentioned that my word for 2016 is mobilization. Since all those goals aren’t things that I usually spend time on (or at least far not enough), I feel that I will have to mobilize all my strength and energy to achieve them. That’s why I chose this, a bit unusual, word for my 2016.
